NONPROFIT TECH DAY

ABUJA, NIGERIA
BACKGROUND

INTRODUCTION

With technology becoming more advanced every day, placing people at the heart of innovation and digital transformation is one way to ensure technology is fit for purpose and can truly change things for the better. However, it can be used in harmful ways, such as cyberbullying and hacking. It’s important that people learn how to use technology safely and responsibly so that they can benefit from all that technology has to offer in their work.

Furthermore, the rapid evolution of technology amid disruptive global crisis such as COVID-19 pandemic outbreak and its attendant effects call for adaptive measures and new capabilities to build resilience and deliver impact at scale.

Since 2017, WACSI has partnered with Techsoup, a US-based non-profit organisation that provides technology services and support for other nonprofit organisations to set up Techsoup West Africa, a technology donation programme to support nonprofit organisations in the region.

Techsoup West Africa programme provides a platform for civil society in West Africa to access technology tools and resources to strengthen their information technology capacity and knowledge.

The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) is organizing one-day tech event. The Tech Event will offer a platform to discuss emerging technology trends, opportunities, and challenges for nonprofit organisations in terms of capacity strengthening, hardware, software, digital security etc… It will also help to present special technology offers for nonprofits and create the space for connecting and strengthening partnerships between the nonprofit community, foundations, international development institutions and corporate partners. The event will feature panel discussions, corporate talks, networking and exhibitions of tech and nonprofit products and service offers.
